Twenty High School students recently received a $2,500 scholarship from GVEC. This year, GVEC awarded $50,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors in an effort to support them as they move on to higher education.

Over 270 exceptional students from throughout GVEC’s service area submitted applications.  The recipients were selected for their outstanding academics, extracurricular involvement, community service and the desire to continue their education after high school.

“The dedication and hard work of these students are evident in their accomplishments,” said GVEC General Manager and CEO Darren Schauer. “They have participated in extracurricular activities, volunteered in their communities, held part-time jobs and excelled in academics. We want to recognize these outstanding individuals for their commitment to their schools and communities.”

The Cooperative recently honored all 2025 GVEC Scholarship winners, their families and school administrators at a luncheon held at JB Wells Expo Hall in Gonzales.

Each spring, GVEC awards thousands of dollars in scholarships to high school seniors seeking to further their education. Students will receive half of their $2,500 scholarships at the start of the 2025 fall semester at their chosen university, college or technical school. They will receive the remaining half at the start of the 2026 spring semester. The GVEC Scholarship program is open to all high school seniors whose parents or legal guardians are GVEC electric members. Applications and requirements for the 2026 GVEC Scholarship will be available in the fall of 2025 at gvec.org.
