GVEC supports members in their efforts to generate and store power at home or in their business. To ensure the safety of both you and our line crews, and to enable GVEC to buy back any excess energy, an Interconnection Agreement is required.

Please select an option below and follow the instructions provided to get started!

If you are a homeowner who has installed a brand new renewable system or a renewable contractor submitting on behalf of a GVEC member, follow these instructions:

  1. Download, complete and sign the Interconnection Agreement.
  2. Complete and upload to the form below. GVEC Qualifying Renewable Generating Application

    Terms & Conditions

    The Member/Contractor acknowledges that:
    • A signed Interconnection Agreement and one-line wire diagram are included with this application.
    • The contractor shall abide by local permitting and inspection regulations.
    • The installation follows Appendix A of the signed Interconnection Agreement.
      • Equipment must be installed outside of the utility easement.
      • The Installation was designed and installed by a licensed contractor following current National Electric Code (NEC).
      • The design includes a dedicated PV meter socket, installed by the licensed contractor.
      • The Installation is equipped with a manual, lockable disconnect installed between the Member's Installation and the GVEC electric power distribution system which should always be maintained and in good working order.
    • GVEC will provide and install the revenue and PV monitoring meters referenced in Appendix A.
    • The Member agrees to sell GVEC any excess energy produced by the Installation at GVEC's current wholesale power avoided cost to the extent GVEC desires to purchase such energy.
      • GVEC is not responsible to the Member for any generation that does not occur for any reason.
      • Unless claimed by the Member, GVEC shall be permitted to claim and use any environmental attributes, including but not limited to Renewable Energy Credits.
    • The Member/Contractor agrees to pay a nonrefundable interconnection fee for interconnection processing.
Submission does not guarantee approval. This agreement may be declined or terminated if the Installation does not satisfy eligibility requirements, if the information you submit upon application is not accurate, or for any other reason.

Next Steps: After your application is received and reviewed by a GVEC engineer, a service order to install a monitoring meter at the location will be created.

The monitoring meter and a rate change to a “renewable rate” will allow you to take advantage of selling back any electricity overproduction to GVEC.

After the meter installation, please allow 1 billing cycle for the renewable rate to take effect.

If you are a homeowner taking ownership at a location that already has a renewable system installed or a renewable contractor submitting on behalf of a GVEC member, follow the instructions below to complete a new Interconnection Agreement:

  1. Download the Interconnection Agreement and complete it to the best of your ability.
  2. Email the completed Interconnection Agreement to interconnection@gvec.org.

Note: The new owner must submit an updated Interconnection Agreement at the time of taking over service.

The account will automatically revert to a non-renewable rate (which does not allow the member to sell excess electricity to GVEC) until a new Interconnection Agreement is received.

After the agreement is completed, please allow 1 billing cycle for the renewable rate to take effect.
