Time’s running out to earn extra savings on your GVEC electric bill! Peak-Time Payback (formerly known as Rush Hour Rewards™) is GVEC’s demand response program. If you’re a fan of conserving electricity, saving money or both, this is the program for you!
How Does Peak-Time Payback Work?
During the hot Texas summer, there are peak times when the demand for power across the state surges—usually between the hours of 3 to 7 p.m.
When you sign up for Peak-Time Payback, you allow GVEC to issue instructions to your Wi-Fi enabled ecobee or Nest® thermostat during summer peak time events. We precool your home in the hours leading up to a peak time event, so you can remain comfortable while we prevent the system from running across the peak. Once your home gets two degrees above your original setting, the unit will automatically cycle back on.
By lessening the demand for electricity, transmission costs are lessened, helping to keep you electric rates stable year-round.
How Does Peak-Time Payback Help You Save Even More on Your Bill?
While Peak-Time Payback is designed to help keep transmission costs low and help save on summertime electricity bills, enrolling in the program offers even more savings!
When you initially sign up to participate in Peak-Time Payback, you’ll immediately earn a one-time $85 bill credit. Additionally, you’ll earn a $30 bill credit each year you’re enrolled from May 31 to September 30. This $30 bill credit gets applied to your October bill. That’s $115 savings on your electricity bills the first year you enroll! But remember—you must be signed up to participate by May 31 to qualify for the annual $30 credit.
