If one of the reasons you chose solar is to take charge of your electricity costs by producing your own renewable solar energy, then GVEC’s Time of Use (TOU) billing program may be right for you! TOU gives solar members the opportunity to be even more in command of their electricity bills.
How?
Time of Use is designed to help members save on annual electricity costs by becoming more mindful of how and when they’re using energy. Instead of being billed the standard blended Generation & Transmission rate for usage, members enrolled in the program experience lower rates for electricity consumed outside of peak-time hours. Electricity bought during the peak-time window is billed at a slightly higher rate.
By making simple adjustments such as using items like washers and dryers, dishwashers, pool pumps, and home car chargers during off-peak hours, when you’ll be charged less per kilowatt-hour, you’ll be able to take more active control of your energy costs. Additionally, TOU has the potential to help boost savings even more for members who’ve paired their solar panels with battery storage by offsetting power used during peak time frames.
