While GVEC is always committed to delivering dependable electricity to our members, our commitment extends well beyond the meter—and not just in the other products and services we offer. GVEC has also always been devoted to do its part in nurturing a thriving community among to enhance the lives of those we serve.
GVEC’s identity has been deeply intertwined with the concept of community for generations. Established in 1938 by a collective of rural ranchers and farmers, the Cooperative emerged from the realization that collaborative efforts were essential to improve their lives and those of their neighbors. This significant factor is why, as a non-for-profit cooperative, GVEC prioritizes people over profits.
Finding GVEC in Your Community
You won’t have to look far to find GVEC in your community. Power Up™ grants, scholarships, educational and community presentations are just a few places you notice GVEC’s impact where you live. You’ll find us at parades, see our name on Little League banners or uniforms, and listed as sponsors at local event, festivals and fundraisers. The list goes on.
Like Minded Employees
Just as the Cooperative has an individual mission to support the communities we’re part of, so do our employees. Many volunteer their time and services to include prepping, cooking and serving food at events Gonzales County Stock Show Buyer’s BBQ. Neighborhood cleanups and Habitat for Humanity building projects and mentoring programs are also examples of causes certain staff feel called toward.
Additionally, there are many employees who volunteer their efforts individually, outside the office. This includes being involved in various community organizations, youth programs, ministerial projects, as well as municipal and educational boards and councils.
Making A Difference to Make You Proud
When you see GVEC in the community, you should feel pride in seeing yourself in the community as well. Our members are the “why” and “how” we do much of what we do. Partnering with you, whether through your Power Up contributions, participation in events we sponsor, or working side-by-side in other organizations we take an active part in, you’re the reason we strive to represent our membership well to give back to make our communities a great place to live and work for generations to come.
